What does Karmarker actually do?
It does two things. It builds staff rosters (who works which shift, every day of the month) and it plans surgeries (when each operation happens, and which people, theatre and bed it uses). When something changes, it updates both.
Does it replace our rostering managers?
No. It takes away the hours of manual puzzle-solving. Managers set the rules, review the plan and make the final decisions.
What happens when someone calls in sick?
Karmarker finds cover that fits the same skills, contracts and rest rules, and re-checks any surgery that depended on that person, so problems surface early instead of on the day.
